Put into groups of 4 we were set the brief `what if...?` With our previous individual research we had to bring it all together find links and produce a new problem. This problem required research to find out whether it really is a problem. We came to the conclusion that people weren't aware of there calorie intake. We undertook a few questionaires that proved that they are aware however the food people eat is unhealthy and unless they act on this eventually they will gain weight. We then questioned the public whether they go to the gym or exercise the majority answered no. We definetly had a problem people were eating junk and not acting on it. Putting the research into a graph or some sort of order made it a lot easier to register and understand rather then having hundreds of sheets that people have filled in. The problem we then had was trying to find an outcome that could help these people want to go to the gym. We went through a few ideas without us all agreeing that it was a good solution. I found that working in a group helped because we could share out the work however at this point it became more difficult because we had different opinions and views and didn't all agree on one solution. I have found that when collecting research it is important to put the work into an order of a tally or some sort of graph to make the statistics easier to read.

We were given a research brief to collect a 100 photos of anything we wanted, the only restriction was that they must either be landscape or portrait. We then had to put these pictures into an order of our choice categorising them in pairs.

Another visual language class where we were communicating message visually.
Here we had to have a series of 10 images hat communicated a colour. I don't think i answered the brief well at all but i do like my idea which was a world with chickens running it. Rather then Mcchicken burgers at Mcdonalds it would be Mchuman burgers, my series of 10 show the manufacture of these burgers.
For this brief we had to design three posters which simply communicated a message on a theme of our choice, my theme was obesity.
Si Scott influenced my typeface in the way that it is playful and visually interesting.
We had to develop a typeface based on a person in the class. We interviewed one another and gathered 10 words which describe one another, the words that i worked on were theatrical, confident, amusing, reliable. i then produced this typeface which i hope meets those words.
In visual language we had to play with line shape and letterform to communicate simple words. We didnt have much time to do this but it was a good exercise making us think and keep things simple.
In the second print workshop we began screen printing which is a long process however has a satisfying outcome creating colours and textures simple printing off a computer cant create.
Recently had a print workshop experimenting with colour and layers and being introduced to the process of print.

Another visual metaphor, this business man is literally handcuffed to his phone indicating he's bound to his work.
This advertisement uses visual metaphor to demonstrate the dangers of having unprotected sex. The scorpion is representing a woman with aids, u wouldn't have sex with a scorpion and its relating that to a woman with aids.

Simple idea but communicates the message well. A passage of text might be legible but it might not communicate the ideas as well as a simple statement and use of image could do.
By slightly altering the shape of the this letterform a totally different meaning is given to the letter. Its simple but brilliant how our perception of the letter is changed by such a simple manipulation.
This playful look on type is similar to the studio work we are currently doing. looking at the form and shape of letterforms and how we can produce them.

ICFF (ice cream for free) is a design company in berlin. This piece looks at a mixture of things including form, type and image. The designer is looking at shape and how it can become legible as letters and words. We see this within the red triangle, by having this part red it draws our attention into it rather then the much duller black and white surrounding.
